Today we are looking at sad events. These would be a funeral, a natural disaster, a medical diagnosis, a last holiday, things of that nature. A lot of different movies out there play to things like this and some of them are really funny and others are really serious. This means that no matter what category you write or what style you write in you can find something that works with you.
Some great examples of this theme is Death at a Funeral, where the two sons find out their deceased father was gay and end up "killing" his partner by accident as they try to handle his blackmail demands. Another great example is Last Holiday, she believes she is dying so she quits her job and starts doing what she always wanted to do in life and living large. Another example would be The Family Stone, where they gather for Christmas only to realize their mother's cancer has returned.
