New Years Eve Party - Hot Meal (Part 1)
Today we are going to look at hot meal items. This would be more Hors d'Oeuvres and Canapes, basically little finger foods that went eaten together. This could be in replace of the chips and dips we talked about yesterday and could be a filler as your crowd waits for the lunch at midnight. Personal I feel like this option is only worth it if you have a small number of people and don't have to make too many. The last thing you want is to be stuck in the kitchen all night while you have a party going on.
Ones that I really enjoy and that are my go to would be Bacon Wrapped items. Now of days it seems everything can be bacon wrapped, avocados, meatballs, Water Chestnuts, Smokies, Shrimp, Scallops, Olives, Jalapeno Poppers, even Pineapple! These are always great options because they are usually bite sized or easy enough to hold in one hand.
With the same thought in mind, I also love stuffed items. Things like Mushrooms, Potatoes Skins, Raviolis, Won Ton Cups things like that. Again, the key is one or two bites, not messy and easy to hold in hand. One of the things I like so much about these is that you can stuff them with almost anything. For stuffed mushrooms alone I have seen, Mushroom and Bacon, Crab and Lobster, Spinach and Artichoke dip, Sausages and Peppers, you can really add almost anything to these and they will be delicious.
Other great things would be the stuff we suggested yesterday for a hot lunch, Little smokies on toothpicks or meatballs on toothpicks would work well. Also little bites of chicken, or teriyaki steak would work well. and a shrimp ring (in the ring or on toothpicks individually) or warm shrimp (fried in garlic butter) would work well also.
